Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) volunteers receive a living allowance and accommodation, insurance, and medical costs are provided. Travel arrangements are organised and funded by VSA along with other costs.
Work alongside the Department of Tourism to ensure adventure tour operators can identify and manage risks for visitors.
Building on the work of the previous Tour Safety Adviser, you will assist tourism operators to identify and implement risk management plans across a range of tours and activities. In this hands-on role, you will provide mentoring and training to operators and Department staff. By strengthening the safety knowledge and skills of Department staff, they will be better equipped to help operators gain and remain compliant with the tourism national risk management strategy in the future.
This exciting assignment offers a great opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of operators and support tourism on the island of Malekula.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
- A minimum of three years’ experience in outdoor recreation/adventure tourism risk assessment, management and safety systems
- Knowledge of safety audit standards
- Experience developing emergency plans
This is a 6 month assignment based in Vanuatu.
